Becky's conquest of the half marathon on behalf of Diabetes Support

At 6 years old my granddaughter, Daisy, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. This news came as a big shock to the whole family and it was initially hard to process such information. Daisy went from being a carefree little girl to having to contend with a whirlwind of appointments, training, missed time with friends, constant food monitoring and a minimum of 4 injections a day (not forgetting many tears along the way). 

The whole family received fantastic support from the diabetic team from the minute Daisy was diagnosed in A&E last year. This fantastic care continued throughout Daisy’s journey on the children's ward and remains equally as amazing during her regular follow up appointments. 

 

I am running the London landmarks half marathon in April 2025 to raise funds for ASPH'S Diabetic clinic fund (charitable reference: SO65A) so that they can continue providing excellent care and equipment to families such as my own.
